For a blissful marriage
Althaia's Wreath
This was a wreath made of pear blossoms. When a household was getting ready for the joyous wedding ceremony, hanging Athaia's wreath on the door was the very first thing to do. Its blossoms and its scent brought happiness to the new bride.
According to the Witches, Althaia was the nymphe of joy. The legend ways she was a beautiful, fresh young girl of sixteen when she fell in love with a young man, Arius, who gave her the world. They got married and lived a life of bliss and happiness. The country in which they chose to live was full of pear trees, all blossoming, and the pear trees were Althaia's favorite trees. She made a wreath of their blossoms and wore it on her head as a bride. Everytime she tried one of the pears she would bear a beautiful baby, healthy and plump. Arius and Althaia had children and grandchildren and lived to the old age, and nothing ever darkened their blessed life. When a Witch would get married, she hang a little wreath of pear blossoms like Althaia's on the door, and then the wedding preparations started. When they hang the wreath on the door, they sprinkled it with esthir, saying the following words:
"Althaia, I put on my door the blossoms that you love, please give joy and happiness to my marriage. May my life be filled with scents, as the esthir scents the blossoms. May your destiny become mine, Althaia. May my husband love me the same way your husband loved you. May I love and respect my husband, as you loved and respected yours. May I have healthy and happy children, just like you did."
When the wedding ceremony was over and the bride returned home, the first thing she would do was to put her wedding wreaths as well as the wicks of her wedding candles on Althaia's wreath, and carefully keep them secret and safe. Althaia would protect her marriage and give her a happy family and life.
